Fixture News: Burnham FC remembers Mr Burnham, Malcolm Higton
Burnham players will wear black armbands for the home match against Virginia Water on Saturday 25th March as a mark of respect for the club’s ex-chairman and president Malcolm Higton who sadly passed away last month at the age of 78. A minute’s silence will also be observed before the start of the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North fixture.
As a player he won numerous cups and trophies for the club before moving into management. As chairman Malcolm oversaw the development of the stadium at Burnham Football Club before finally retiring as club president in 2018. Even then he continued to attend matches with his wife Carole until he was unable to make the journey no more due to ill health.
Carole and daughter Julie have confirmed their attendance and a number of ex-players, league officials and friends of the Higton family are also being invited according to Julie. Plus there are also plans to collect donations on the day for their chosen charity Alzheimer’s Research UK
