Disappointing result however, as we’ve all seen so many times, the scoreline doesn’t really tell the whole story.

Thatcham Town play in the Isthmian league, the league above us. This friendly was always going to be a test of ability, courage and resilience, and considering the half time tally ended 0 – 5 we did well to close their attackers down and prevent more.

As with any game of this nature we used the opportunity to try new things, making substitutions in several key positions throughout the 90 minutes including our keeper as well as several outfield players too. They say that it’s difficult for a team to learn from their mistakes when they hammer in ten goals each week. Let’s just say, we learnt a lot this evening. Final score 0 – 6 to Thatcham.
