HISTORIC BURNHAM FC OPENS NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART 3G PITCH FOR 21/22 SEASON

PRESS RELEASE | 24.07.2021

Burnham Football Club is delighted to announce the opening of a new state-of-the-art 3G football pitch at our recently renamed 1878 Stadium, formerly known as The Gore.

Our turnstiles will swing into action once again when we host our final preseason friendly against Slough Town FC on Tuesday evening, 27th July, just before our league campaign kicks off in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Premier League North next month.

The stadium and its facilities have undergone a major refurbishment programme over the last 12 months,   providing the board with the chance to achieve one of their key objectives of building closer links with local community clubs. In particular Burnham Juniors now enjoy the opportunity of both playing matches and training on the new football pitch together with other local football clubs, including Chalvey Sports FC who will play their home games for the 2021/22 season here, and Britwell FC who will also play some Friday night home games on the new pitch.

Specialists Velocity Sports design, construct, install and maintain high quality artificial and natural sports pitches. Amongst other benefits of multiple use the new 3G pitch will allow matches and other sporting events to take place even during the winter months when other grounds may be forced to close.

“We are enhancing what is already an historic and much-loved football club and venue central to our thinking is a strong desire to continue building lasting local relationships while creating a high-quality football and leisure venue at the heart of the Burnham community,” says Club Chairman Glenn Skivington.
