The Luca Skivington Memorial Charity Football Match 2025

Sunday 10th August 2025 | The 1878 Stadium, Burnham Football Club

The day kicked off with a clash to remember: Maidenhead Rangers vs Luca’s XI.
The Rangers were born from heartbreak, formed in honour of Luca, whose passing in 2019 left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Facing them was Luca’s XI, led with pride by his younger brother, Marco Skivington, and made up of close friends, former teammates, and those determined to celebrate a life lived far too briefly. Their mission was twofold: to honour Luca’s memory and raise vital funds for the family’s chosen charity — Centrepoint UK.

From the stands, a sea of parents, relatives, and friends roared their support, filling the air with warmth and energy. The weather seemed to be on our side yet again — a glorious 28°C under blue skies — perfect for football but testing the stamina of every player. Both dugouts overflowed with talent and spirit, with Luca’s dad, Burnham FC Chairman Glenn, taking charge of the Luca’s XI squad.

The pitch saw plenty of familiar faces, including ex-Burnham FC players, battling it out in a spirited 90 minutes (with extra water breaks in the sweltering heat). In the end, Maidenhead Rangers emerged victorious — but only just, surviving a last-minute penalty miss that could have changed everything.

After the final whistle, the celebration moved to the main bar. Here, the community came together for well-earned refreshments, a lively charity raffle, and an auction packed with incredible prizes: a four-ball at Sunningdale Golf Club, Premier League matchday tickets for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, and even a freshly signed Chelsea shirt.

It was more than just a football match — it was a day of remembrance, laughter, generosity, and togetherness. Thanks to everyone who donated, bid, and cheered, we raised an incredible amount for Centrepoint UK.
