Late Goal Denies Burnham, but Blues Stay Top

Burnham FC remain top of the table despite a narrow defeat at Amersham last weekend – and now the Blues are back at The 1878 Stadium this Saturday 4th October!

We take on Edgware & Kingsbury FC (3pm KO) and your support can make the difference. Bring your friends and family, enjoy a great afternoon of local football, and help the Blues get back to winning ways!

Burnham FC’s disappointing away results continued on Saturday with a 1–0 defeat at Amersham Town – but the Blues remain top of the Combined Counties Premier Division North after ten games.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Burnham, who controlled much of the possession and carved out good opportunities throughout the game. Yahya Kamara forced space for a shot in the first half, and just before the break the Blues went agonisingly close when a powerful strike clipped the bar. In the second half, Shyon Dennis found himself clear through on goal, but his effort flew just over.

As the clock ticked into stoppage time, it looked as though the points would be shared. But Amersham struck on the counter in the 92nd minute, punishing Burnham’s attacking intent with a decisive finish that sealed the match with seconds to go.

Despite the disappointment, the squad has shown resilience and quality throughout the opening months of the campaign, with seven wins from ten matches keeping Burnham clear at the top of the table.

The focus now turns to a welcome return home. After nearly a month on the road, the Blues are back at The 1878 Stadium this Saturday 4th October, hosting Edgware & Kingsbury FC with kick off at 3pm.

Supporters – old and new – are encouraged to come down, cheer on the team and help the players respond in the best possible way: with three points at home. Burnham FC is proud to be a family-friendly club where everyone is welcome, and with top-of-the-table football on show, there’s no better time to back your local side.
